The Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB). The performance of a candidate in JEE (Advanced) will form the basis for admission to the Bachelors, Integrated Masters, and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level), in all the IITs.

PATTERN OF JEE ADVANCE

  • The examination consists of two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) of three hours duration each. Appearing in both the papers is compulsory.
  • Each question paper will consist of three separate sections, viz., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • The question papers will consist of questions designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
  • Negative marks may be awarded for incorrect answers for some of the questions. Details of the marking scheme will be provided in the “Instructions to Candidates” section at the time of examination.
  • The question papers will be in both English and Hindi languages. The candidates will have the option to choose (and also switch between) the preferred language anytime during the examination. English version will prevail in the event of any difference of opinion.
  • The JEE (Advanced) examination will be conducted ONLY in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. To attain familiarity with the CBT mode candidates are advised to take mock tests available on the website nbacademy.in

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR JEE ADVANCE

  • Indian nationals who wish to appear for JEE (Advanced) are required to write the JEE (Main) paper for admission to B.E./B.Tech. programs conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • Candidates should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main).
  • Foreign nationals who have studied or are studying in India/abroad at 10+2 level or equivalent and wish to appear for JEE (Advanced) are NOT required to write the JEE (Main) .
  • A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) maximum of two times in two consecutive years
  • The Candidates must satisfy at least one of the following two criteria with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in the year of first appearance in the Class XII (or equivalent examination) 1. Must have passed class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and secured at least 75% aggregate marks. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65%. 2. Must have passed class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination.
